Why I Haven't Ordered An Apple Watch Series 6... Yet!

2 days ago, Apple finally unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, and some new iPads. I have upgraded my Apple Watch 2 years in a row, and this time around while I don't want to update, but I kind of have to...

Now why do I have to update you ask? My current Series 5 is totally beat up. It's real bad... I'm talking multiple deep scratches on the screen and a scratch on the case that is so deep it's exposed the silver aluminum under my space gray finish. I take pride in caring for my devices, and this is a fucking disgrace to me. I can't believe how poorly I took care of this one.

These scratches are bad! Almost look like cracks.

I honestly don't even know how this one happened.

I honestly made a mistake buying the Series 5. I spoke about this in my video when I reviewed it, but the reality is that when I realized how much I beat this one up I decided my next Apple Watch should be stainless steel. The stainless steel is much more resilient, and has sapphire crystal glass which should be a lot more scratch resistant.

Another angle of the carnage.

So up till this week I was certain that I would get the Stainless Steel Apple Watch this time around, but then Apple threw me a curve ball. Instead of one new watch model there are two new models.

So my initial plan on buying the $800+ stainless steel Series 6 was immediately brought into question. I started asking myself why I wanted to spend so much on a Watch that I'll end up upgrading next year anyways. Plus just because it's sapphire glass doesn't mean it's indestructible. It'll still get scratched if I don't take care of it.

At this point the prospect of buying an Aluminum Series 6 and a SE for less money just makes so much more sense. The amount of content I can get for my money automatically doubles, maybe even triples. So as a business decision, it's honestly a no brainer. Get both watches models, just the cheaper versions of both.

So now brings into question why I didn't buy one yet. Two reasons to be honest:

1.Immediately after the event I jumped right into making my recap video and didn't order my watch. After I was done with my video shipping dates had already pushed to September 30th. This means even if I ordered something getting it on day one was impossible.

This actually ended up being great because it plays right into my second reason.

2. I am not sure which color I want to buy yet. The Series 6 comes in 5 colors (Space Gray, Silver, Gold, Blue, and Product RED) now, and I'm confused between the Blue and Space Gray models.

Since I have to wait anyways, I decided that my best option is to wait until everyone puts up their unboxing videos this Friday and then get a better idea of what all the colors look like. This will give me a lot more clarity as to which one I'd be happier with.

As I'm typing this up, the embargo for the Apple Watch has lifted and reviews are popping up on YouTube already. By tomorrow or Saturday the first batches should be delivered to customers as well. So by Monday or Tuesday there will be a lot of videos for me to watch and decide on which color to go with.

What do you guys think of the new colors? I'm not a fan of the red, but the blue is definitely interesting! Let me know down in the comments below.
